Action Formers - Disposal (MTMTE Tailgate) in hand by wulongti Action Formers - Disposal (MTMTE Tailgate) in hand by wulongti
I got the first test print in hand of the first character in my new line of Action Formers: Disposal. This is just the first prototype so there are some changes and fixes that need to be made but overall I'm happy with how it's turned out. It's not ready yet for folks to purchase their own but soon. Likely next month. In fact if you'd like a chance to get your hands on one of these guys early, be sure to like me on facebook: [link]

Next week I'm going to be looking for volunteers to test out the next round of changes and improvements on this design as well as the other 3 armor designs I've modeled, including a version that will be upsized from about 2" tall (like the one pictured) to about 3.5" tall. I'll be posting a secret link to be able to order them that won't be available to the public so if you want one before the public release, keep your eyes peeled :D

sadly this tiny one was never good enough for public release :(
(the joints are hella loose)

I'm working on a larger one (about 4" or so) that should scale nicely w/ your deluxe figures.  Still testing it though.  I've also got a more SD looking one that's in the shop: www.shapeways.com/model/163005…

But shapeways recently redid their cost algorithm and I need to rework the model to get the cost back down to under $20

Oh my goodness he is just too precious! Amazing job really, your attention to detail is wonderful and the light piping looks fantastic. His parts breakdown is a nice shot, they way you have designed his jointing makes him look super posable.

Thank you so much! Yes he is quite posable and I'm rather proud of the amount of articulation, detail and light piping I was able to get into such a small figure. He's been redesigned since this test print though... I've opted not to have the internal skeleton just because at this scale it makes the joints super weak :(

Nearly finished up with the redesign for the 4th figure in the wave and will be ordering those test prints soon ^__^

I can see how the internal skeleton might hinder a figure his size though your internal skeleton structure is wonderful!

That is so exciting that 4th figure is nearly done with it's redesign. Awesome job!

it totally is. I feel like I'm practically holding my breath the whole time hoping that nothing will go wrong. It's even worse when I have some of my fans beta testing stuff for me.. :/

Oh I bet, I know someone who is testing Disposal. So very fun I hope you are getting good feed back from your testers

yes, very much so. ^__^

I'm very grateful for the added tests. This has been very educational. Much more so than if I had just ordered 1 test myself. Since things tend to change from 1 print to the next.

Oooh, and he looks just as wonderful as he does in your 3D renderings! :D You've really done the little guy justice; this is so exciting! The lightpiping effect really stands out; wonderful work!

*Is very intrigued at the prospect of a 3.5" version*

I'm curious, and it's possible you've already mentioned this somewhere; it sounded like you were planning on making non-minibots as well; if so, would they be in scale with the little guys you're making now? *doesn't know whether she should think about the 2" or 3.5" version of Tailgate*

thank you muchly :)

Yes, I've got one more character to do for this "wave" of figures but for wave 2 I'm going to do some of the larger characters. It's going to be the designs on the same protoskeleton so they won't scale with your Generations/Classics deluxe figures at all :( I could make figures that size but I'd end up with figures that would cost about $100 or so from Shapeways D:

I pay the same price to test these as you guys will to order them and I know I can't afford a figure that pricey :/

If it helps the 2" Tailgate is going to be in the ballpark of $20 while the 3.5" will likely be close to $50

the 3.5 version of the bigger bots will scale nicely with the 2" minibots though :)

I think that those characters at 3.5 will put them at about the same size as the cyberverse commanders.

Ooooh, I see...thank you so much for the information! :) Yes, I wasn't assuming that your little guys would be in scale with the Classics/Generation herd; but it sounds like they'll be pretty in scale with each other within your line, which is what I was hoping for. ^_^

Heh, knowing me, I'll probably try to get one of each. XD
