hey gang I know it's been a while so I wanted to give you a quick update as to what all is going on.
lately I've been swamped with Web Dev work both at my day job as well as with my freelance stuff, but when I can I've been sneaking in some design stuff too. A solid portion of it HASN'T been posted here so I might as well catch you up:
A Kreon upgrade set to transform your little dude into Transformers Prime: Megatron. Or at least his arms and feet. Another Designer (Tresob) worked on a helmet, and torso. The client wanted him to have the "Prime Arm" that he got in season 2 so you'll see that included. The set actually includes enough parts to have the Prime Arm as well as his standard arm. Tresob did a cannon as well so I didn't include that. I did include a kreon skull for him to step on though.. lol
A Kreon upgrade for arms, feet and cannon for G1 Galvatron. Again, Tresob had done a torso and helmet so I didn't want to step on his toes.
My upsized Disposal figure (about 3.75" tall) has been cleared for public release and is now available in the shop
I made a minifigure based off of the Kreon engineering but with some added articulation based off of the Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye character Minimus Ambus. I'm in the process of testing him but if you'd like to give him a shot, he's available in the shop. I'm calling him "Load Bearer"
Lastly a client commissioned me to make a Kreon upgrade set that would give him a Fall of Cybertron Bruticus set and now that he has it in hand and is happy with it, I can now offer it for sale in the shop ^__^
To be kept up to date on what all I'm working on, be sure to "like" my Facebook page and add me to your interest lists. I tend to update there first including work in progress shots of projects that I'm working on.
Have a great day guys!
An update
I know it's been forever since I updated anything here...
So I've been working on tons of stuff. For starters I have a line of 3D printable toys called Mech City that you can download for free and print at home. The toys are of cute chubby mecha w/ interchangable parts and little animal people pilots along with loads of accessories, vehicles, playsets, etc.
Mech City Central
I've also been throwing a ton of time into my Paper printable tabletop miniatures game BattleRoller. More cute chubby mecha w/ pilots. The game isn't ready for a full on release but it's getting there. Lately I've been working hard on building a web app that lets y
Transformer RPing...
I've been known to dabble in RPing from time to time and there is no shortage of folks that love to RP within the various universes of Transformers. However, I keep seeing certain terms come up again and again in different players' prose.
Being into actual machines and robots and knowing a thing or two about mechanical engineering the use of these terms really rubs me the wrong way.
In particular the ones that really agitate me when I see them in use are "mech" and "servo". People have been using "Fem" for ages to denote a female based Cybertronians. It makes sense, "fem" --"female" or "fembot". And I guess Players want to have some sor
Action Figure Design courses starting soon!
I'm offering a course in designing Action Figures in Sketchup and putting them up on Shapeways for sale in your own shop!
This course will cover the basics of 3D modeling in Sketchup and go on to cover more advanced techniques used for small sized product design, joints and designing parts to be "snap fit", prepping files for 3D printing via Shapeways, and setting up your Shapeways Shop page to sell your items. At the end of this course you will have a base action figure model that is ready for you to customize, accessorize and sell in your own shop!
The cost for this intensive 4 week course will be $50 via PayPal and will start in January
Windblade head on Sketchfab
Here's the 3D view for the Windblade head I did based off of Sarah Stone's artwork. I just love the style she used in the Windblade miniseries and hope that she'll get an ongoing comic. This here is one of the main images I used to base my design off of:
Eventually, when it comes out, I'll be picking up the Windblade toy but you can see that the head on it doesn't really look much like Sarah's work at all.
The rest of the body isn't too bad though. So when I get the figure I'll add the neck connection to my model and do some test prints on Shapeways ^__^
